Back in 2004 Greg Peterson and Kathleen Curry decided it was time to make locally raised beef available to the people of the Gunnison Valley so we established Tomichi Creek Natural Beef, Inc. The Peterson family has been growing native grass hay and raising top quality cattle since 1962 on Tomichi Creek in eastern Gunnison County. Our cattle are a limousin/hereford cross that thrives at high elevation (the ranch is at about 8000 feet)and are 100% grass-fed. We are a fully chemical-free operation – no commercial pesticides, no hormones.
Unlike the beef you see for sale in your typical grocery store, Tomichi Creek Natural Beef hasn’t traveled far from home. Once our cattle have reached the proper age and weight, we transport them about 50 miles to the Scanga Meat Company’s USDA certified plant in Salida for processing. Our ground beef is sold in 1 – 1.5 pound individually wrapped packages, and is between 85-90% lean. We hope you enjoy eating it as much as we do!
