The Market is Open! Celeriac Puree!

Greetings local food lovers!

The Market is Open! Great things don’t always come in beautiful packages. Take celeriac, for example!

It’s a root vegetable jam-packed with phosphorous, Vitamin K and antioxidants and it’s on the market this week from Rain Crow Farm.

Make it into an elegant side as a puree.

Add in a potato. Or try adding in some apples for sweetness!

Heirloom Processing Apples to Keep the Doc Away

Greetings local food lovers!

Feel a cold coming in? The old adage “An Apple A Day Keeps the Doctor Away” might in fact have some truth to it!

Apples contain quercetin, a nutrient which studies show may reduce the risk of some cancers and prevent Alzheimer’s.

Along with quercetin and Vitamin C, apples also are rich in phytonutrients like Vitamins A & E and beta carotene.

Bonus: apples also clean our teeth, killing bacteria in the mouth and fighting tooth decay!

What can’t apples do?

Grab some apples up while they last from Holy Terror & Ela Family Farms or from Delicious Orchards.

Last day to order local! Applesauce!

Greetings local food lovers!

Applesauce is a great solution to preserving the last of the season’s apples!

Still some apples left on the market

Simply quarter them up and simmer in liquid (like a gallon of Delicious Orchard’s cider , cinnamon & spices and lemon juice.

When the apples are soft, mash them up or process in a food processor for a smoother finish.
