Parsnip Fries!



Greetings local food lovers!

Don’t forget to place your order for local foods by Monday at 7 AM!

This week try shaking up the traditional french fry with some parsnips from Abundant Life Organic Farms.

  • Wash and peel 2 lbs. parsnips
  • Cut parsnips into 1/2 inch thick strips
  • Toss with 3 tbsp olive oil, garlic powder, paprika, salt, pepper and pinch of cayenne pepper
  • Spread out on an oiled baking sheet
  • Roast at 450 degrees for 25 minutes, turning halfway through cooking

Coconut Milk & Maya Nuts

Check out one of our newest products from Essential Edibles/COCOlavida of Crested Butte: coconut milk!

If you want locally produced coconut milk without preservatives and free of the BPAs that are found in can linings, you can now get it through Local Farms First.

COCOlavida homemade coconut milk is made with filtered, then boiled water and kiln-dried organic, pure coconut meat from Tropical Traditions.

Also available is the Maya Nut Coconut Milk Beverage, a super healthy alternative to chocolate milk. The Maya Nut grows in fertile rainforest soils and is high in antioxidants, fiber, calcium, potassium, folate, iron, zinc, protein and micronutrients.

Twin Goats at the Biodynamic Conference!



Greetings local food lovers!

Don’t forget, the market is opening tomorrow, March 8th at 5 PM.

This past week, several Local Farms First growers participated in the Biodynamic Conference offered in the North Fork Valley by the Valley Organic Growers Association.

There were over 80 people there from all over North America. Mark from Thistle Whistle farms provided greens and chevre cheese.

Don and Daphne from Zephyros offered salad and greens.

And Emily from Terra Fata generously contributed a lamb, yogurt, milk and eggs. The night before, one of Emily’s goats gave birth to twins!
