localfarmsfirst- the market is open!

Greetings local food lovers!
New this week: Shelling and Sugar Snap Peas from Alison and Jason at Holy Terror Farm
Knowing our farmers is a critical step in our food safety and security, but sometimes we can’t go directly to them, so knowing how to get fresh local food right in town is also another important step in closing the food loop. This week’s emails will be focusing on local businesses who make every effort to purchase locally grown produce eggs and meat. Supporting these businesses supports the local foods movement and reminds other businesses and restaurants that we want to see local on their menus. Vote with your dollar! Support businesses who support farmers!
Carolyn Riggs, owner of the Brick Cellar Restaurant in Gunnison has been a dedicated ally of localfarmsfirst from the start. She hosts our Gunnison food pick-up location and orders many of her menu items from the website every week. In the summer The Brick Cellar features produce Carolyn grows herself in sustainable, hydroponic set-up above the restaurant. So next time you’re in Gunny, pop in for a glass of wine, a lavender- infused martini or a delicious goat cheese salad. Thanks Carolyn! We appreciate everything you do!
And we thank all of you on behalf of the localfarmsfirst growers for doing your part to bring healthy local foods to your community!
