Handmade Wool Roving Rug-- Large # 1Grower: The Living Farm (TLC Greenhouse)
Price: $50.00 ( each )Available (Exact): 1
This rug was handmade here on The Living Farm, dyed and woven by Lynn and her daughter Jenny. It measures 37" x 19". These rugs are excellent placed next to your bed for those cold feet mornings! They are also quite popular with our four cats, who believe that all things soft and warm are feline domain. We use wool from our own sheep, a blend of East Friesian, Cotswold, and Icelandic. The East Friesian wool is the softest, very thick and warm. Icelandic wool is coarser, and very strong, so it is used for the warp yarn (this batch of rugs was warped with the wool from Cesar, one of last year's rams). And Cotswolds are a heritage breed, listed as 'threatened' by the American Livestock Breeds Conservancy, which means that there are estimated to be fewer than 5,000 of them worldwide. We are proud to be able to help restore this breed, primarily prized for their wool, in all shades of white, silver, and black.
